Merel van Dooren - Ambassador Transcontinenta BV

Merel van Dooren was born in Tilburg in 1991.  As a child, she often went on holiday to France with her parents, twin brother and sister. There she was once 'tent-arrested', because she had held a photo shoot with her little brother and had shot the entire roll of film... From that moment on she knew she wanted to become a photographer!

Merel did not train in photography, but in healthcare. However, she never lost her focus on photography and gradually began to immerse herself in the profession. The 'van Dooren' house was regularly turned upside down because Merel had arranged another portfolio shoot. She was allowed to set up her studio in her father's office. This was no more than an old mattress sheet with a construction lamp, which her father had converted into a softbox. Her mother then provided a nice lunch and her sister always helped her with the styling and make-up. And her little brother also helped out with anything Merel needed help with. And so she began her photography career, doing everything by feeling and intuition.

In 2014, Merel officially registered with the Chamber of Commerce and went after her dream. You cannot pigeonhole Merel's photography. However, there is a common thread running through her photography and that is storytelling. In addition, the variation in her assignments makes her work so much fun. One moment Merel is photographing a baby at the new parents' home and the next she is photographing a slick fashion shoot.
